Kevin M. Thompson, B.Sc. (Hons.), J.D.
Kevin practices in the areas of municipal, planning and real estate law, as well as condominium litigation and development. He has experience representing both private and public sector clients in Ontario Land Tribunal (formerly LPAT/OMB) and Superior Court proceedings and regularly assists clients with appeals relating to official plans, zoning by-laws, plans of subdivision and severances, site plans, and minor variances. Kevin also regularly assists purchasers and sellers in real estate matters to ensure their closings run smoothly, and has extensive experience in condominium law, including purchases, sales, development, enforcement, and dispute resolution.
Kevin has an Honours Degree in Environmental Science from Queen’s University and earned his law degree from Osgoode Hall Law School. While at law school, he participated in the Intensive Program in Aboriginal Lands, Resources & Governments, which included a co-op placement with the United Nations Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity in Montreal. He also served as co-chair of the Osgoode Environmental Law Society. These experiences give him a unique perspective on the intersection of public and private interests at play within Ontario’s land use planning regime.
Prior to being called to the Bar in Ontario in 2014, Kevin articled and summered at SV Law, completing an extensive rotation in Municipal Law. Prior to law school, Kevin worked for the Toronto and Region Conservation Authority, in the Conservation Lands department, which was responsible for the stewardship and protection of the TRCA’s land holdings. In his spare time, Kevin enjoys playing hockey and golf.
