Law Student Programs

SV Law is a full-service law firm, proudly serving the legal needs of South-Western Ontario, from our offices located in the City of Guelph and the town of Elora. A firm of over forty lawyers, SV Law has experienced demonstrated growth and a steady diversification of practice areas, while maintaining a collegial work environment that supports professional and personal balance.

At SV Law, our student programs provide students the opportunity to prepare for the practice of law by working in a supportive and collegial environment. Whether you are a summer student or an articling student, you will work closely with our lawyers on challenging and interesting files that will help you to broaden your skills and knowledge. You will be exposed to a variety of work and experiences with opportunities available in all our areas of practice.

We provide a robust mentorship program in which you will be paired with a lawyer at our firm who ensures you are exposed to a variety of experiences, who provides you guidance and support, and who is dedicated to your development and growth.

We also highly encourage our students to build connections with colleagues, to attend firm networking and social events, and to get involved in our community.

Please see below for more information on available positions and how to apply.

Summer Students

2025 Summer Student Positions

SV Law is pleased to announce that we are accepting applications for up to five summer student positions. The summer term runs from May to August. You must have completed your second year of legal studies at a duly accredited law school when the summer term begins and have demonstrated strong academic accomplishments while displaying a commitment to your community.

Our students typically work from our Guelph office, but we also encourage you to work from our Elora office from time to time to get exposure to other practice areas and to build new connections. You may therefore be required to have a valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle or ride-share. We offer competitive compensation.

Please apply by sending a cover letter, your resume, your law school transcripts, and at least one professional or academic reference letter to Gabrielle Walker, Director of Professional Development and Resources at: sv-careers@svlaw.ca.

SV Law thanks all applicants for their materials in advance, and notes that only those candidates selected for an interview will receive a formal reply.
