Ben Grant is an experienced tax and commercial litigation lawyer.
Ben helps businesses and individuals across Canada who face significant income tax or GST liabilities from a CRA reassessment. Ben also assists accountants whose clients are handling complex audits, objections, or voluntary disclosures.
Ben’s background is unique. Ben previously served for several years as a lawyer for the Department of Justice representing the CRA before the Tax Court of Canada and other courts. Ben’s knowledge and understanding of the federal government allows him to effectively defend the interests of his clients.
In addition to tax disputes, Ben also has deep experience in commercial litigation. Throughout his career, Ben has represented clients in many types of disputes in courts and tribunals across Canada, including the Supreme Court of Canada.
Ben is a member of the Canadian Tax Foundation and the executive of the Tax Section of the Ontario Bar Association. Ben is currently completing the three-year In-Depth Tax Program by CPA Canada. Ben frequently presents on tax topics such as the best practices for responding to a CRA audit. Ben shares his insights about tax litigation at his blog “Tax Disputes”, available on Substack.
